Current social changes in eating habits and the increasing economic pressures of life gradually results in the production of many diseases of civilization, such as heart disease, stroke, arteriosclerosis and etc. In this study, we measured the finger pulse of photoplethymography ( PPG) at one-point using a non-invasive way, and measured the radial pulse using pressure sensors. We then calculated the spring constants of both signals. We recruited forty- four subjects in Taichuang hospital (22 men and 22 women), with an age range of forty to eighty-five years old. Results imply the positive correlation of spring constant with correlation coefficient = 0.77 between PPG and radial pulse. In addition, p value < 0.01 implies the significant correlation. The result also shows the feasibility to use the PPG as the index signal in evaluating the arterial stiffness for the application in home care or telemedicine.
