Description
Summary:碩士 === 逢甲大學 === 國際貿易所 === 100 === Top management team (TMT) plays an important role during the process of making strategic decisions. Top executives make strategic choice on the basis of their cognitive base so the team members’ characteristics, such as education level, international experience, tenure, etc, will affect their abilities of management and even the outcome of a multinational enterprise. Drawing on the resource-based view, this paper examines the relationship between top management team characteristics (TMT resource rigidity, TMT resource endowment, TMT resource heterogeneity) and multinational enterprise’s strategic choice (internationalization & diversification) and performance. Samples focus on the information technologies industry, and we collected 697 US-base listed parent companies through ORISIS database. The time period is 2010. Through this research, it shows that TMT’s rigidity has negative impact on MNE’s Strategic Choice and Performance, and TMT’s endowment has positive impact on MNE’s Strategic Choice and Performance. Furthermore, TMT’s heterogeneity has positive impact on internationalization and negative impact on MNE’s diversification. According to the results, we can find that top management team stands a very important position in the process of making strategic decisions
