| Summary: | 碩士 === 國立屏東科技大學 === 客家文化產業研究所 === 100 === In Taiwan, there is a variety of evolving industries, including those characterized by local culture and innovation. Certainly, throughout times, these industries may prosper or decline. In Meinung, the characteristics of local industries can be mostly referred to traditional agriculture. In addition, fresh water fishery is of similar significance. In fresh water industry of Meinung, the category of soft-shell turtles has been existing for over half century. Actually, the operation of this traditional industry gradually involved with corporation management.
This paper will apply qualitative methods to the research. The thesis is “management of fishery industry for soft-shell turtles in Meinung”. Methodology of this research includes fieldwork observation and interview. First of all, the fieldwork indicates the actual operation of fishery industry for soft-shell turtles. Second, through interviews, this paper presents the comparison between early and current development of this industry. Finally, literature review will be used for the analysis of collected data.
A brief of the result is as following: (1) In terms of the content of sales, there is no significant difference between early and current period in this industry (2) In management, there seems no standardized process of operation. Instead, the method of management varies between fishery households of different scales (3) As for the future development, the cooperation between industry and government sectors is required. The overall industry should be reorganized by setting regional service stations of government, which canprovide fishery households with guidance and relevant information. Indeed, it is essential to strengthen the infrastructure for a sustainable development of traditional industry in the future.
