In this quasi-experimental study, two classes of 64 third graders at elementary school in Taoyuan City were selected as the experimental group and controlled group. The experimental group was given karaoke teaching CD supported vocabulary instruction, and the controlled group was given textbook with CD supported traditional instruction. The data were collected through English vocabulary test of words from textbook learned in the study and feedback toward the implementation of karaoke teaching CD instruction. The results show that: 1) there were significant differences in vocabulary test between experimental group and controlled group. 2) the karaoke teaching CD experimental group performed significantly better than the controlled group, especially in word- letter and spelling parts. 3) students from experimental group showed positive attitudes toward karaoke teaching CD instruction. According to the study findings, the researcher suggests that: 1) based on English vocabulary concepts, curriculums need to be carefully designed; 2) combining with other activities or teaching strategies to promote learners’ learning effects; 3) the study can be designed toward contents which are novel to learners in the future.
