Summary:碩士 === 國立臺南藝術大學 === 藝術史學系藝術史與藝術評論碩士班 === 100 === After the Emperor Xiaowen of Northern Wei moved the capital to Luoyang, Luoyang became the center of the Buddhist faith. Longmen caves and Gongxian caves have many similarities in statues themes, styles and arrangement . Through analyzing the actual work of the two caves and relevant literature, there is an interactive relationship between their themes and styles in statues . Nevertheless, the Gongxian caves still keep their unique style in the hem of cascading decorative in statues, procession scenes, and the arrangement of spirit gods. Gongxian caves temples began in about 520 and completed in East Wei 534-537. According to the analysis of procession scenes, the reason to build the cave should be related to Lady Hu . Owing to Gongxian cave temples preserve a lot of Buddhist art of Northern Wei Dynasty in Luoyang and leave an important message to show how Buddhist faith spead in that time, it has an replaceable status in the development of Buddhist art.
