The health care system has devoted much of the research to reveal the effect of the IMO on the human body, such as the barrier against pathogenic microorganisms in the intestine. The characteristic function falls into five categories: to prevent the digestive cancer, to reduce blood cholesterol, to synthesize a variety of vitamins, low calorie content, non-caryogencity. However, the IMO differs from other oligosaccharides on the homogeneity, negative effect and physical stability. In contrast, it has a slightly better trend because the actual occurrence of food IMO with advantages can be described as quite as much. Traditionally, the IMO is produced in high concentrations of sugar type, using enzyme as a biocatalyst. The reuse of enzyme is difficult. Therefore, in this article, immobilization of enzyme using calcium alginate and animal test of IMO including ingestion by mice, healthy men and the elderly constipation male are reviewed. After the finishing of this thesis, future research can be conducted for the marketing of IMO. More data the in the health care system can be provided for the people to consume IMO. It is beneficial for the society to develop neutraceutics and to promote human health. Dey-Chyi Sheu 許垤棋 2012 學位論文 ; thesis 62 zh-TW
