The Trimetric Classic has been widely selected as a fundamental reading material for many kindergartens and elementary schools today as the habit of reading ancient scriptures prevails. This research analyses the different aspects of its content and we hope to investigate the inspirational value and educational application of the teachings. We will first review the historical development of inspiration teachings and details of the author of the Trimetric Classic and the different editions published will be described. Various inspirational teaching materials will also be discussed and their functionality and distinctive features of our country’s inspiration teachings will be further elaborated. Wang Yinglin in the Song Dynasty wrote the Trimetric Classic and three editions have been published using the teaching as the fundamental aspect of the content thus far, namely: “Explanation of San Zi Jing” by Wang Xiang, “Annotations and Description of San Zi Jing” by He Xing Si, and “San Zi Jing - Revised” by Zhang Bin Lin. The contexts of the respective editions will be analysised and compared using tables in this article. The secondary analysis of this article includes the interpretation of the Trimetric Classic and the different arrangements used. The Trimetric Classic has been a popular reading due to its distinctive features: the arrangement is short but expressive, and the structure of the grammar varies according to different rhymes. It has been noted that in addition to the moral inspiration provided by the Trimetric Classic in teaching, it aids in the learning of vocabulary and pronunciation as well. With regards to its educational application, we have employed different means of evaluation to analyze the suitable age for teaching the Trimetric Classic, the methods and concept of the teaching process.
