In this paper, the main aim is to investigate the effects of the parameters in the drill point forming process, and its goals are to reduce the maximum forging force, forging energy and maximum effective stress of drill point die during forming process. This study uses CAD software (Pro/E), finite element software (DEFROM-3D) to analyze forming and die stress of the drill point. By using two-stage Grey-Taguchi method, the optimal parameters in drill point forming process can be obtained. From results of analysis, the maximum forging force, forging energy and maximum effective stress of the die for optimal forming process of drill point is about 24100N (26.3%), 28400N-mm (38.4%) and 460MPa (20.4%) lower than the original forming process of drill point.
