碩士 === 國立高雄第一科技大學 === 企業電子化研究所 === 101 === In last several years, the world’s elderly population is increasing. More and More elderly live in long-term care facility. That causes short of nurses in nursing home. The workload of nurse is increasing. The major health hazard for the elderly is falls. Falls are also responsible for considerable morbidity, immobility, and mortality among older persons, especially those living in nursing home. We expect to use Information and Communication Technology (ICT) to assist nurses in long-term care facility for prevent elderly fall. In this paper, we adopt motion sense technology, wireless network technology, and mobile computing technology to design and develop an automatically fall prevention system. This system combines the wireless IP camera which is sold in the market and Android OS smart cellphone. System uses wireless IP camera to automatically monitor elderly. And system uses smart cellphone to send alarm to caregiver. We expect this system can help caregiver of long-term care facility to prevent elderly fall, and reducing the workload of caregiver.
