A survey was conducted on respondents selected by stratified sampling from the qualified public elementary school teachers in Kaohsiung City in academic year 2011. The instrument is the Role Perception and Teaching Leadership and Strategy of Principals Questionnaire. The collection rate is 92.94% with 510 questionnaires in total and 474 responses. After coding and eliminating invalid responses, the valid response rate is 87.06% with there were 444 valid responses in total. The data collected was analyzed using the SPSS for Windows 18.0 with the following methods: Descriptive statistics, independent sample t-test, one-way ANOVA, and stepwise multiple regression analysis. The following conclusions are drawn from the data analysis results: 1. Elementary school teachers hold a positive attitude toward the role perception and teaching leadership and strategy of principals. 2. Male elementary school teachers who are older, more senior, classroom teachers, and teaching in schools with a male principal have greater role perception of the principal. 3. Male elementary school teachers who are older, more senior, classroom teachers, and teaching in large schools with a male principal have greater feeling about the teaching leadership strategy of the principal. 4. Elementary school teachers with a better role perception of the principal can better interpret the teaching leadership strategy of the principal. 5. An elementary school principal setting an educationalist example role can best apply his teaching leadership and strategies. Lastly, according to the above research conclusions, suggestions are made for school principals, teachers and future research.
