Description
Summary:碩士 === 國立屏東教育大學 === 華語文教學碩士學位學程 === 101 === The purpose of the study aims to explore the Chinese learning affecting factors of new immigrant families. In order to reach the study purposes, the study is based on the qualitative approach, and the data are mainly collected by participant observation and in-depth interviews. The interviewees are four new immigrants and their four children who are now seventh grade in high school. The research field took place in Kaohsiung Municipal Hsin Hsing High School. The findings of this study are as follows: 1. The Chinese learning needs of new immigrants are working for living, educating next generation, and finding better jobs. 2. The Chinese learning needs of new immigrants’ children are communicating with others, developing relationships with peers, and striving to academic performance. 3. The factors which lead to the Chinese learning difficulties of new immigrant families can be classified as three categories. On personal level, the learning difficulties come from language barrier and lack of education. On household level, the learning difficulties come from economic restrictions and poor parent- child interactions. On family environment level, the learning difficulties are without a good environment and equipment and without good parenting attitudes. 4. The personal level can be classified as mental and learning factors. The solutions of mental factors are not only to trigger the new immigrants and their children’s learning motivations but to build up more language learning institutions. The solutions of learning factors are to set their positive learning attitudes and the community colleges should offer Chinese learning courses for them. 5. To solve the difficulities of household level, the authorities must provide new immigrants for more subsidies and supports. What’s more, the institutions must offer the new immigrant families parent-child education programs. 6. To solve the difficulties of family environment level, we must appeal the education administrative authorities for supporting and offering the parenting education programs for the new immigrant families. Finally, according to the conclusions, the study makes new immigrant family some suggestions for Chinese learning and future research.
