Description
Summary:碩士 === 長庚大學 === 商管專業學院碩士學位學程在職專班經營管理組 === 102 === The aim of the paper is to study the M&A’s activity in the electronic paper (e-paper) industry. E-paper industry has been developed for about 40 years already. However, the application and market acceptance were not mature until the Kindle series e-book reader released in 2007. E Ink Holdings Inc. (EIH) has dominated the e-paper market since 2007. In 2012, Delta Electronic, Bridgestone, and Qualcomm announced its withdrawal from e-paper business, and EIH merged SiPix in August. E-paper was the mainstream for reading e-books before tablet PC was released. Nevertheless, it gradually lost its market share and replaced by tablet PC. With so many e-reading devices coming out of the market, the growth of e-book readers remains to be seen. Additionally, the whole e-paper industry has changed through mergers and acquisitions and withdrawals of competitors. The study was found out by case study that Electronic Shelf Label (ESL) will be next hot item in the post years of EIH and SiPix merger. It is going to motivate other product application. The e-book reader market in U.S. keeps growing up, sales in Europe and Japan are getting better and better. It shows that e-paper has good potential in the near future, once new development and application are released.
