Description
Summary:碩士 === 國立彰化師範大學 === 輔導與諮商學系所 === 102 === The purpose of this research was to explore a 22-year-old gay male, who had experienced the suffering and trauma from intimate relationship. We proposed a case illustration of dream process, the meaning of this gay male’s dream symbols and his self transformation were investigated by using a Jungian dream approach (Johnson, 1986). Case-study method and in-depth qualitative individual interviews were applied, and a total of eight sessions’ dream processes were recruited to analyze the data. The results showed after the dream process, he became more aware that he was over-controlled by inner feminine energy, and he can start to balance both positive feminine power and negative destruction. In addition, he could recognize the archetype of Hermaphrodite, which will further facilitate the wholeness of Self. Furthermore, the symbols of maze, little mermaid and the Mandala, also represented the different stages of his individuation process. Overall, after the eight session’s of Jungian dream interpretation processes, the client experienced and released his negative-identified persona and the destructive cognitive patterns, and developed a more cooperative intimate relationship with his new boy friend. In sum, the present study adds to the existing literature on the underlying processes of Jungian dream work to gay population. Further empirical applications were also discussed.
