Electron microprobe analyses were performed to determine the phase compositions and phase relationships. Two ternary phases (ε and β)and 10 three-phase equilibria were determined in Au-Al-Cu system. The δ(Au2Al) phase exhibited a wide range of solubility and a peculiar morphology. The average interdiffusion coefficients of δ(Au2Al) phase obtained at 500 °C are: =(-1.47±0.10) ×10-8 cm2/sec =(-1.46±0.09) ×10-8 cm2/sec =(1.47±0.09) ×10-8 cm2/sec =(1.46±0.08) ×10-8 cm2/sec Two ternary phases (T1 and T2) and 13 three-phase equilibria were identified in Au-Al-Pd system. Phase T1 contained 37 at% Au, 26 at% Pd, and 37 at% Al. Phase T2 contained 44 at% Au, 24 at% Pd, and 32 at% Al. The average interdiffusion coefficients of Au2Al phase obtained at 500 °C are: =(-2.75±0.04) ×10-10 cm2/sec =(-5.02±0.04) ×10-10 cm2/sec =(2.33±0.03) ×10-10 cm2/sec =(4.74±0.03) ×10-10 cm2/sec The solubility ranges of the binary intermetallic phases were also determined in this study.
