Description
Summary:碩士 === 東海大學 === 工業工程與經營資訊學系 === 102 === With globalization, companies need to collaborate with each other and consider the benefit of the whole supply chain to increase the overall benefit in a highly volatile environment. Many studies in the literature had emphasized information sharing is very important in supply chain. With rapid development of the current technology, information sharing between enterprises has become easier. However, most of the studies in the literature all assumed that the demand model of the market was shared to each partner in their models without information sharing. Therefore, based on a more stringent definition the model without information sharing, this study discovers the real value of information sharing by simulation and design of experiments. This study uses the same demand model of the market as was used by most of the past studies in order to compare our results with theirs. This study wants to analyze the significant factors which affect the cost of the supply chain members, and the factors considered in this study include average demand d, the demand autocorrelation coefficient ρ, demand standard deviation (volatility) σ, the retailer’s unit holding cost h, the unit holding cost of the manufacturer H, the unit shortage cost π retailers and the manufacturer’s unit shortage cost Π. In addition, we analyze the total cost of each partner in the supply chain including the retailer, the manufacturer and the overall supply chain. Moreover, we analyze the difference between the costs of models with different levels of information sharing to determine what important factors to affect it are and to analyze the interactions between two factors. The results show that the main factors to affect the value of information sharing are dependent on the level of information sharing. From the model without information sharing to the model with information sharing, there are some factors affecting the value of information sharing for the retailer, the manufacturer and the overall supply chain. The most important factor is the standard deviation (σ) of the market demand, and the second one depends on the partner of the supply chain and the level of information sharing. The result is different from those of most of previous studies which stated the most two important factors to affect information sharing value are always the demand autocorrelation coefficient ρ and demand standard deviation (volatility) σ. This study finds that when the standard deviation of the market demand is large and the unit inventory holding cost of the retailer is high, the benefit of information sharing can bring maximal value. Note that the demand autocorrelation coefficient which was always the critical factor for most studies in the past literature is not a significant factor in this situation.
