Due to the glass syringes property, which has a great air tight seal and low resistance, but its cons are fragile, expensive also, difficult to process. Regarding to the student’s topic design, it’s not easy to display, so I point out the cylinder and piston section to carries on the improvement. Because of metal material has a low cost and easy to process characteristic, this article uses metal materials craft cylinder and piston, replaces glass syringe made cylinder and piston, and compare both engine’s surface roughness and roundness. Finally we use α type Stirling Engine HAE10 as experimental platform, in three different metal materials craft cylinder and piston, and another set made out of glass syringe. Using the same motion mechanism, and compare both engine’s performance curve by using dynamic power measurment, student can choose a suitable metal to monograph and design their engine.
