Among them, 161 are universities and colleges (4%), 474 are senior high schools and vocational schools (12%), 736 are junior high schools (18%), and 2,651 are elementary schools (66%). In addition, according to the statistics of the Bureau of Energy, all the public and private schools in Taiwan consumed approximately 3.23 billion kilowatts per hour in 2011 (accounting for 1.3% of Taiwan’s total power consumption in that year), of which 2.2 billion kilowatts per hour (68%) were used by the universities and colleges. From the analysis of the power consumption of one graduate student study room at a university in Taiwan, it is found in this study that the study room consumes electricity as much as 18 hours per day (from 8:00 AM to 2:00 AM). Therefore, this study intends to explore how to effectively reduce power consumption of the universities and colleges via power consumption reduction of their graduate student study rooms. This study mainly explores how to reduce unnecessary energy consumption caused by the lighting, air conditioning and other facilities in the graduate student study room (EB501) of the Department of Construction Engineering, National Yunlin University of Science and Technology, without changing any of the facilities. By analyzing the current power consumption of the lighting, air conditioning and other facilities in the study room, this research hopes to provide suggestions on power conservation improvement from the perspective of user management. From the measurement of the power consumed by the lighting, air conditioning and other facilities in the study room, it is found that, after the improvement, the power consumption of the lighting is reduced by 48%, air conditioning by 16%, and other facilities by 5%. It is concluded in this study that the analysis of the power consumption as well as the space design/management of the study room have an absolute influence on the study room’s power consumption. In addition, analysis of the user mode of a space and suitable space arrangement can help to effectively cut down unnecessary power consumption. Wei-Tong Chen 陳維東 2014 學位論文 ; thesis 65 zh-TW
