Description
Summary:碩士 === 玄奘大學 === 應用心理學系碩士班 === 103 === The nonlinear dynamical systems theories has brought us a whole new way to think of our world and it also has had great effectson academic domains of both natural sciences and social sciences. Therefore, psychologists have recently publish more and more interesting studies which are according to the tenets of the nonlinear dynamical systems theory. This study is also based on this theory and assumes that when an individual is induced to have a steady state of emotion, his brain will become a nonlinear dynamical system and we can find out the strange attractors for each emotional states respectively. By re-analyzing the EEG raw data provided by a previous relevant study, this study is going to use a software named the Visual Recurrence Analysis to estimatedynamical system parameters, reconstruct the phase spaces, and make recurrence plots with several quantitative analysis of them to explore the strange attractors in the brains of the participants who were induced to be either fearful, happy, disgusted, angry or sad. According to the results, the Fz channel and fearful movie clips revealed significant changes of recurrence rates and were analyzed in detail in this study. By considering the obviously increased recurrence rates, five temporal segments in the target movie clip were selected with the contents to be judged whether they were fear-inducing or not. The result of the content analysis was positive although the phase portraits revealed no well-structured strange attractors. Further studies are needed to confirm the use of recurrence plot and its quantification analysis on emotion recognition.
