Summary: | 碩士 === 國立成功大學 === 生命科學系 === 103 === Erythrina variegata is a deciduous tree which belongs to the family of Fabaceae. Recently, Erythrina variegate had been severely infected by gall wasp Quadrastichus erythrinae in Taiwan. The parasitism led to the swelling galls and eventually the death of infected plants. The prevention of Quadrastichus erythrinae infection is therefore very important. Here I used paraffin section technique to study the microstructure of the Erythrina galls. The results show Quadrastichus erythrinae gall sexes didn’t differ in appearance and organizational structure. Whether the three leaflets, or rib, lateral veins, the number of male are larger than female, and the most number of male are in the top of the leaflets, but there is no significant difference in female. The Erythrina arrangement leaves in early development, its mesophyll tissue are sparse, therefore, the Erythrina can easily be invaded by wasps. In addition to single gall, many gregarious galls are also found at the plants. Gregarious galls body and the chamber size are large than single galls. Most Erythrina inflorescence also suffered wasp invasion. Observation found that the flower longitudinal section, wasps are still only in the calyx, which may be due to the parenchyma calyx thick buds completely coated during other floral, which have protection function, and floral gall needs to be more in-depth discussion.
