碩士 === 國立成功大學 === 歷史學系 === 103 === Before the mid-Ming dynasty, women’s excursions were not common due to the conservative social values. However, after the mid-Ming period the records of women’s excursions can be frequently seen, so what caused this phenomenon? And in this case, what are the public impressions of it? There is a close relationship between the rise of women's excursions in Jiangnan region and the consumption capacity, open social atmosphere caused by the high development of commodity economy. And it shows the significant the characteristics of the times. This study observes the factors for women to choose the attractions, the time for women to travel, and all kinds of activities they joined during the excursions in the prosperous Jiangnan region. The cost of women’s excursions is high. In other words, traveling in some degree embodies an extravagant side of the life. The transport women required, such as aboard ships, sedans, wagons, needs the support of the economic ability. Furthermore, the clothing and the ornaments women wore from top to toe is an expenditure. In addition, the daily meal and the household utensils are the necessary items when women were travelling. This study observes women's excursions behaviour, the material and spiritual needs they were facing, and the pressure from the public opinions in late Ming dynasty.
