The RF chain configuration can be decided by applying some antenna selection methods. Considering the trade-off between the performance and complexity, we propose a norm-and-correlation-based selection algorithm with low complexity for energy efficiency maximization. The proposed selection algorithm can be applied to decide the RF chain configuration in the massive multiuser MIMO (MU-MIMO) systems as well. Finally, computer simulation results show that the proposed selection algorithm can achieve comparable energy efficiency to conventional antenna selection algorithms in massive MIMO systems.
