Recent literature has viewed cultural and creative industries with a new concept ‘project’ raised by Grabher. Different layers include firm, core team, locality and personal relation constitute a new term ‘project ecology’. This research aims to explore the operating of modern theater and how does creativity be generated and affected by institutional environment in Taipei metropolis. Based on the empirical study of Taipei metropolis theaters, this research concludes following conclusions: First, the production network of project may change due to the difference of institutional environment and spatial trait. Second, locality is an important spatial media that makes creativity and talented person can interact then change into local buzz or noise and become modern theater’s reputation. Third, the government still plays a big role in the project ecology of modern theater, but not the only institution builder. Forth, the spatial meaning of Taipei metropolis. It attracts different groups cluster and trying to grow up in this area, also imply the discourse of proximity and learning.
