| Summary: | 碩士 === 國立臺灣藝術大學 === 中國音樂學系 === 103 === Tenor Erch Concerto “Fantasia of Western Regions” is composed by Chinese composer Wang Yue-Ming. The piece is also a commissioned work, which is owned by Singapore Chinese Orchestra. Mr. Wang uses elements of western region music in this piece, and sets Tenor Erhu as the solo instrument. In the history of Erhu compositions, this piece is the first Concerto for Tenor Erhu. Through notes written by Mr. Wang, the music styles of western regions combined well to Tenor Erhu. It motivates the writer to conduct research on the piece. In writer’s opinion, the research can offer useful reference regarding music style of western region music and the art of Tenor Erhu.
Analyst, interview, and interpretation methods are used in the research. Music style of western regions can be found in the music of Uyghur music in Xingjiang, China. Huge differences of mode, rhythm and melody lie between Uyghur music and traditional Chinese music. By the understanding of Uyghur music, the writer analyzes the piece from three aspects: mode, rhythm, and melody. In the interpretation part of the research, the writer combine elements of western region music and Tenor Erhu, executing an interpretation analyze in the part.
In the conclusion, the writer found that Mr. Wang does not use pure music mode of Uyghur music in the piece. Even so, there are still many obvious features of Uyghur music including rhythm and melody that appeared in the piece. On the other hand, the playing skills used also leveled up the technical ceiling of traditional Tenor Erhu pieces. The research offers systematic reference of western region music and the art of Tenor Erhu.
