The real-time ambient air quality data of 2012–2015 were obtained from five local monitoring stations established by the Industrial Development Bureau of the Ministry of Economic Affairs in accordance with an environmental evaluation and monitoring project. The measured air pollutants included CO, NO2, SO2, total suspended particulate (TSP), and PM10. A statistical analysis of the change trends in ambient air quality over a 4-year period was conducted to explore how air quality surrounding the concrete plants changed in recent years. The findings were as follows. Among all the air quality monitoring sites, the highest hourly average level of SO2 was observed in He-ping Primary School (1.890.26 ppb), the lowest hourly average level was observed in Aw-Hwa Elementary School (1.770.20 ppb), the highest hourly average level of NO2 in the Hezhong Campus of the school (9.241.82 ppb), the lowest hourly average level was observed in Aw-Hwa Elementary School (5.76±1.48 ppb), the highest hourly average level of CO in the Aw-Hwa Elementary School (0.55±0.08 ppb), the lowest hourly average level was observed in He-Ping station (0.47±0.05 ppm), the highest hourly average level of TSP in the Hanben Station (83.94±8.31 µg/m3) , the lowest hourly average level was observed in Aw-Hwa Elementary School (48.30±1.85 µg/m3), the highest hourly average level was observed in He-Ping station (83.94±8.31 µg/m3), the highest hourly average level of PM10 in Hanben Station (55.23±3.14 µg/m3) and the lowest hourly average level was observed in Aw-Hwa Elementary School (31.85±1.52 µg/m3). The long-term air quality in Aw-Hwa Elementary School is better compared to that in other sites based on both TSP and PM10 annual concentrations. The highest annual hourly mean PM10/TSP ratio was observed in He-ping Primary School (68.114.3%). Meanwhile, the lowest annual hourly mean PM10/TSP ratio was observed in Hezhong Campus of the school (57.715.9 %). Moreover, an estimation of the hourly standard deviation (SD) of the annual hourly mean PM10/TSP ratio yielded the highest SD in the Hezhong Campus (15.9) of the school, indicating that the campus was most exposed to dust from transportation and beaches among all the air quality monitoring stations.
