There are two roles of Raspberry Pi, the first is signal control chip, the other is web server. Besides, the low price of Raspberry Pi can reduce the cost significantly, it is very powerful and had a good potential in using as development platform. The Apache-Tomcat is chosen to be the web server, JAVA is the only language supported by Apache-Tomcat, fortunately, the JAVA-based control program for GPIO has been developed, it is quite convenient to integrate the GPIO control code and related Servlet. Once a legal IP is assigned, smart phone can connect to Raspberry Pi via internet in the place where wireless Wi-Fi is available. If the alarm indicator is lightened, the signal will be captured by Raspberry Pi and sent to staff’s smartphone through browsers. In the contrary, GPIO can be controlled by smartphone. Though Raspberry Pi comes out soon, but the popularity is very fast, on the future, the influence on cutting edge technologies cannot be overestimated.
