This study also aims to provide domestic financial holding companies, banks and financial supervisory authority with the reference mehtod of mergers and acquisitions, in order to reduce resistance against reform, and to erase the cognitive difference, and eventually to assist the domestic banking industry in redrafting development strategy. This study focuses on both qualitative and quantitative analysis. The research methods include literature review, simulation analysis of mergers and acquisitions, and in-depth interviewing. In order to investigate and analyze for Hua Nan Bank and First Bank merger feasibility, the study found that: 1. Organizational structures and business strategies are similar, adjustment might be minor. 2. Multiple overlapping sales network eases the process of downsizing. 3. As simulation analysis of mergers and acquisitions, the result has benefit of mergers and acquisitions. 4. Among them, the most conservative estimate assumptions, with no layoffs and no consolidated operating base, simulated the merger and acquisitions has benefit. According to the simulation analysis of mergers and acquisitions, equity value per share of Hua Nan Bank will increase 4.4%, the market share will till 11.2% and the first in Taiwan. In the face of rapid changes in the international economic situation, and technological innovation trends, Taiwan banking sector must speed up the progress of business integration, overseas expansion, personnel training and assets activation.
