Description
Summary:碩士 === 國立臺灣師範大學 === 表演藝術研究所 === 104 === Malaysia-Malacca is a place with 500 years of historical cultural heritage. It has been previously occupied by Portugal, Holland, Japan and England. Additionally, during Zheng He’s sixth expedition west to Malacca, he left behind a lot of historical sites, culture, and art characteristic to the location. In 2008 Malacca was also listed by UNESCO as a world heritage site. The 500-year old historical Malacca in recent years has also attracted many tourists. This paper’s research goal focuses on the native location’s important festival, the “Malacca Chinese New Year Festival.” The “Malacca Chinese New Year Festival” festival began in 1990 when it was established by the executive member of the Malacca Chinese New Year Festival, Datuk Wira Gan Boon Leong. Ever since then, every year in February, this traditional cultural festival has been organized. Among Malaysia’s cultural festivals, the “Malacca Chinese New Year” has attracted many national and International tourists every year. In addition to this, in the past 25 years, it has expanded to various different forms of activities. This festival will be more and more enriching every year. The paper’s primary research goal is to conduct an effective evaluation of the “Malacca Chinese New Year Festival” and understand the native cultural, artistic and festival characteristics via on-site observations, participation, interviews, investigation into festival details, and the collection of interviews and background information. This is in addition to, after the investigation, being able to suggest improvements to the local festival activities and tourism development. Finally, it will be compared with the world’s three well-known festivals, Italy’s Carnival of Venice (Carnevale di Venezia), France’s Carnival of Nice (Carnaval de Nice), and Brazil’s Rio Carnival (Carnaval do Rio de Janeiro). This includes observing the “Malacca Chinese New Year Festival” and making preparations for how to occupy a niche in future activities and tourism.
