碩士 === 輔仁大學 === 體育學系碩士班 === 105 === This study discusses the current conditions for the participation motivations and obstructing factors of the representative track and field team in the public group of the National Intercollegiate Athletic Games (NIAG) 2017 and compares the different conditions of athletes with different background variables. I hope that the result of this research can benefit the development of college representative track and field teams, strengthen and extend athletes’ passion for sports, and those are my research motivations. 300 questionnaires were given, 254 valid ones were retrieved, and an effective response rate of 84.6% was achieved. Statistical analyses were carried out to the retrieved questionnaires using the independent samples t-test, one-way ANOVA, Scheffé’s method, and linear regression analysis. The research results are as follows: 1. Concerning the ranking in the participation motivation of “sports development and achievement,” the athletes with the highest rankings are the top eight of the country, and the top eight of NIAG come to the second. The athletes with the lowest rankings are the top eight of the city. In terms of the participation motivation of “physical and psychological benefits,” the rankings of the top eight of the country are higher than those of the top eight of NIAG. 2. With respect to the ranking in the participation motivation of “sports development and achievement,” the athletes who train themselves for more than 12 hours a week rank higher than those who train themselves for more than nine hours but less than 12 hours a week. 3. Regarding the obstructing factor “the need for achievements,” college seniors’ obstructing factor is stronger than master students’. 4. There is a significant negative correlation between the participation motivations and obstructing factors of all athletes. This fact shows that the stronger the athletes’ participation motivations are, the weaker their obstructing factors become. Conversely, the weaker the athletes’ participation motivations are, the stronger their obstructing factors become.
