The caring manpower was not enough when facing the aging society in Taiwan. Incivility of patient was considered the main reason of burnout in nurse. There had been many studies about burnout in the nurse practice but no investigations pertaining to patient’s incivility. A head nurse was a leader in the nursing unit. She was responsible for allocating manpower and rearranging workflow. A head nurse plays a role in bridging patients and nurses. Conflicts between patients and nurses are often relieved by head nurse intervention. Servant leadership was gradually valued in the management field in recent years. The service comes before the authority in servant leadership and it was different from previous rigid concept that authority predominated in management. However, most head nurses in Taiwan still play the role as authoritative leadership until now. Our study assumes there is a negative relationship between servant leadership and burnout of nurse. We also want to investigate if the servant leadership was a moderating factor between patient’s incivility and burnout of nurse. The study participants were dialysis nursed in the Excelsior Renal Service Company in Central Taiwan. The questionnaires were distributed in 30 dialysis centers in Central Taiwan. There were 255 effective samples. The results suggested patient’s incivility was positively associated with burnout of nurse. Servant leadership was negatively associated with burnout severity. However, there was no moderating effect of servant leadership between patient’s incivility and burnout of nurse. Chih-Hsun Chuang 莊智薰 2017 學位論文 ; thesis 30 zh-TW
