Summary:碩士 === 國立臺灣體育運動大學 === 休閒運動管理研究所 === 105 === The purpose of this study is from the perspective of institutions to find the reason of low sports participation of Taiwanese students, through related theories explain. First, we used Historical Analysis and Documentary Analysis, and the theory of “New institutionalism” is most illustrative for this study. Then we conducted investigation and analyzed questionnaires from middle high school students of Taichung city. The result showed 1) The variable of formal institution “Academic pressure” had no significant correlation in students’ sports participation; there was no significant pressure increase in school work and parental expectation of academic achievement. 2) The variable of informal institution “National character” had no significant correlation in students’ sports participation; students didn’t force themselves to do something reluctantly, so students’ personality is closer to Individualism instead of Collectivism. 3) Practical feature “National character” had a significant correlation in students’ sports participation; sports celebrity idolatry had great influence in students’ sports participation. In summary, the government’s education policy has influence on student’s academic pressure, and can increase students’ sports participation by positive perspectives, like increasing the times of sports games and professionalism in sports.
