Therefore, the engagement of a corporation in environmental education may have a deep influence on it. However, only few of the facilities operated by corporations are certified. Most of the facilities are still operated by the government units. The past related studies dealing with such phenomenon are in lack of the assistance of complete theoretical framework in addition to mainly focusing on the progress and index establishment. This study combines the fields of environmental education and sociological studies. By adopting the organizational innovation-decision in the theory of Diffusion of Innovation as the theoretical framework, the study will view the certification of the Environmental Education Facilities & venues as an innovative idea and choose AUO Taichung (AUO). The first plant that has passed the certification of facilities, as the research subject. Semi-structured interviews are adopted to interview the five related employees including the colleagues in charge of the certification business, the professional environmental education staff, and the counseling team members in order to have a discussion on the process and determining factors in terms of the application for the certification of facilities. The study has found that among the factors, “personal factor” has the highest influence level. “Innovative cognition attribute” indicates that AUO encountered a lot of difficulty in the process of applying for certification. However, the “importance” of passing the certification outweighs the “difficulty.” Despite two rejections, they still understood the corporation’s cognitive difference in environmental education, tried to seek the assistance and guidance from the professionals in the outer environment, and finally successfully passed the certification of Environmental Education Facilities & venues. Therefore, the another corporate operation units interested in applying for environmental certification, the corporate operation units need to thinking the importance of certification is greater than the difficulties, and training staff with innovative learning ability. In the event of difficulties, they can seek professional assistance through the local Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) or environmental education institutions to facilitate the application for certification.
