Abstract
The purpose of this research was to understand the experience and effect of master-level internship counselors using psychological displacement paradigm in diary-writing (PDDP) on counseling anxiety. Participants of the research included 6 master-level internship counselors. Source of data are individual interviews with participants. The data were analyzed by the applying phenomenon-oriented methodology to the interview transcripts total of 13 hours. The study revealed the following results:
1. The effect were found when participants using PDDP on counseling anxiety:
(1) The Influence of PDDP on the status of counseling anxiety, including 7 common impacts: "a clear understanding of counseling anxiety", " counseling anxiety no longer been an unknown horror", " counseling anxiety improvement", "decreased influence of counseling anxiety", "counseling anxiety been re-framed", "counseling anxiety has a qualitative change", " counseling anxiety has not been resolved to deal with" and 4 unique effects: "an approach to counseling anxiety", "counseling anxiety can be discussed", "understand that counseling anxiety must exist", "there are ups and downs in anxiety while writing".
(2) The Influence of PDDP on the treat self who have counseling anxiety, including 6 common impacts: "accept self who have counseling anxiety ", "self-affirmation", "discovering inner strength", "self-awareness", "self-check ", "balance the inner self" and 4 unique effects: "be myself", "stop self-blame", " contain attack", "there is no change in how I look at myself".
(3) The Influence of PDDP on the relationship between participant and counseling anxiety, including 7 common impacts: "aware and reconsider the relationship with counseling anxiety", "see the benefits of counseling anxiety", "coexistence with counseling anxiety", "finding the message of anxiety", "externalized counseling anxiety", "aware that anxiety itself is only a part of me, reducing the impact of anxiety to me", "have a way to respond to the anxiety" and 5 unique effects: "Getting a balance between me and counseling anxiety ", "stop misunderstanding or hate anxiety", "feeling close to counseling anxiety", "control of counseling anxiety", "reduced segregation of anxiety".
(4) Other effects of PDDP on participants, including 5 common impacts: "objective view", "emotional change", "reduce comparison", "see messages ignored in relationships ","promote deeper self-discovery and self-awareness", and 7 unique effects: "practice empathy", "promote self-talk", "provide the content of conversation while being in a counselling session, "in writing, I found myself in cruising.", "focus on myself", "universality", "in writing, the mind changes".
2. Participants in the different pronouns and the writing process share their experience in the use of PDDP.
Finally, results were discussed and suggestions were addressed.
