Description
Summary:碩士 === 聖約翰科技大學 === 機械與電腦輔助工程系碩士班 === 105 === The purpose of this study was to investigate the teaching process of canoe building experiential curriculum. From understanding parents’ perceptions to analysis of students’ learning effectiveness, teachers worked in reflection on their practice. The module was based upon forty hours of boat building workshop, eight hours of canoe painting, and five hours paddle trip course. Through the methodology of action research, a self-developed questionnaire was conducted to evaluate the learning effectiveness of the sixth-graders. The main form of assessment was by quantitative data analysis, supplemented by qualitative work involving participant observation, individually-produced learning diaries, written reflection, video recording and in-depth interviews. The findings were as follows: 1.Experiential curriculum could make students attain understanding of canoes. 2.Experiential curriculum could make students attain skills of canoe building and navigation. 3.Experiential curriculum could help students develop high performance teamwork. 4.Experiential curriculum could help students cultivate spirit of challenge. 5.Experiential curriculum could foster class group cohesion. 6.Feedback from the parents was positive and similar experimental curriculum was highly approved. 7.Teachers could enhance their personal and professional growth through developing the action research of canoe building experiential curriculum. Based on the findings above, suggestions were made for teachers, parents, and further studies.
