碩士 === 臺北市立大學 === 教育學系 === 105 === The purpose of this research is to sketch Confucius’s (孔子) and Sima Qian’s (司馬遷) picture of ideal personality based on the Analects, which focuses on Confucius’s thought, and Shi Ji (The Record of History), which is written and edited by Sima Qian. As these two books have been influential in China in terms of forming and cultivating the “Chinese mind”, the researcher in this thesis firstly tries to draw, respectively, Confucius’s and Sima Qian’s idea of ideal personality. Secondly, the researcher compares the similarity and difference between the two pictures of ideal personality drawn earlier. Finally, some implications concerning education are suggested based on the comparison made between Confucius and Sima Qian.
