Description
Summary:碩士 === 國立雲林科技大學 === 營建工程系 === 106 === In recent years, when it comes to construction sites, whether private or public industry, the lack of workforce has been a consistent problem. Matter of fact, this problem has been haunting Taiwan’s construction industry for more than a decade. The reason for lacking of solution, or even the reason why there is a shortage of workforce, as well as the degree of shortage, have all been unsolved puzzles. As a result, this research aims to examine the current environment of Taiwan’s construction workforce, and putting the main focus on rebar, template and concrete workers. Through interviewing experts, learning the situation of our nation’s problem, this research generated a second phase of questionnaire, which included questions regarding current situation, reason, effect and solution on the problem of the shortage of workforce. The questionnaire was given out in 16 different cities in Taiwan, and the result indicates that lack of workforce is an ongoing problem in most places of our nation, especially in the field of rebar, secondly template, the field with the least problem is concrete. As for gender rates, there continues to be a wide disparity. The problem of aging is also alarming in this industry, as most workers’ age between 51 to 60, there are even more workers age 60 or older than those who are under 40. According to the questionnaire, average salary of workers sit around 40000 NTD, a good proportion can even reach 50000 NTD, still there are few youngsters who are willing to participate. A stereotype among people is construction workers have low social status, adding the punishing workload and environment, all contributes to the lack of interest among younger generations. For the construction companies and workers, although they may differ in opinions regarding effects of the problem of workforce, it undoubtedly affected the quality, cost and time of the construction. Lastly, regarding the solution of this problem, the general consensus was to raise salaries of workers and improve working environment, rather than investing on advertising, or to collaborate with schools.
