Since the free-piston Stirling engine can only operate with a very small range of design and operating parameters, it is necessary to understand the dynamic behaviors of the integrated system. In parallel, a prototype linear alternator is developed and designed, with the help of the electromagnetic simulation software JMAG, which could provide the design concepts. The numerical analyses are composed of the thermodynamic model, dynamic model and electromagnetic model In addition, the influences of permanent magnet size, load resistance and the magnetic circuit design are predicted the operating frequency, stroke and electrical efficiency when the linear alternator is combined with the free-piston Stirling engine.
