The subjects of the study consisted mainly of the fifth-graders, sixth-graders, and seventh-graders of the local public schools. The research was completed with the aid of the questionnaire method, its instruments being the “Parenting Style Scale,” the “Parent-child Conflict Scale,” and the “Parent-child Relationship Scale.” Some 595 valid samples have thus been gathered. The data had been T-tested and processed through one-way ANOVA and Pearson Correlation Analysis to reach the conclusions as follows: 1. The proportion of the adolescents that are aware of their parents’ “liberal authoritative parenting style” proves to be the highest; 2. The adolescents are aware that the parent-child conflict is not serious; 3. The adolescents are aware that the parent-child relationship is good; 4. The adolescents boys are more sensitive than the girls to parent-child conflict; 5. The adolescents from single parent families are more aware of the school affair conflicts; 6. The adolescents from families of higher social standings are more aware of familial conflicts; 7. The fifth graders are more aware than the seventh graders of the parent-child relationships; 8. The adolescents who have received the “authoritative style of parenting” have more parent-child conflicts with their parents than those who have received the “indifferent-uninvolving style of parenting,” the "permissive indulgent style of parenting,” and the “liberal authoritative style of parenting;” 9. The adolescents whose parents adopt the “liberal authoritative style of parenting” are more aware of the parent-child relationships than those whose parents adopt the “indifferent-uninvolving style of parenting” and the “authoritative style of parenting.” Those whose parents adopt the “permissive indulgent style of parenting” have better parent-child relationships with their parents than those whose parents adopt the “authoritative style of parenting;” 10. There is a negative correlation between the adolescents’ awareness of the parent-child conflicts and the parent-child relationships. Based upon the results of the research, the array of suggestions are listed as below for the educators’ further reference: 1. To adopt a positive, highly responsive and highly demanding liberal authoritative style of parenting; 2. to counsel the children in coherence with their specific needs, gender, familial structures, and socio-economic situations; 3. To cross-analyze and to conduct a profounder research of the coherence of the parenting methods and their interrelation with the variables. Dr. Qiong-Ru Wu 吳瓊洳 2017 學位論文 ; thesis 159 zh-TW |
