Summary:碩士 === 正修科技大學 === 幼兒保育研究所 === 107 === In recent years, due to the influences of educational policy openness, the number of colleges/universities has rapidly increased and diversified choices for departments have been offered. However, such phenomena have also increased students’ intention to transfer to a different department, as well as increased the difficulty in choosing college/university and department. Therefore, the main purpose of this study is to investigate the factors affecting the intention to choose a department and college/university of graduates from Division of Early Childhood Education and Care of senior (vocational) high schools, as well as their considerations. After referring to relevant domestic and foreign studies, this study summarized the factors affecting students’ choice of a department can be divided into 3 dimensions - “characteristics of department,” “future development consideration,” and “suggestions from others.” The factors affecting students’ choice of college/university can be divided into 5 dimensions – “college/university consideration,” “learning consideration,” “reality consideration,” “reputation consideration,” and “enrollment consideration.” In order to achieve the research purpose, this study used research methods, such as literature review and questionnaire survey. Besides, this study also used the scale [Questionnaire Survey on Factors Affecting the Choice of Department and College/University of Graduates from Division of Early Childhood Education and Care of Senior (Vocational) High Schools] developed according to the research purpose and relevant literature as the research tool. This study conducted a general survey on graduates (senior students) from Division of Early Childhood Education and Care of various public and private senior (vocational) high schools in Kaohsiung City and Pingtung County in 2018 academic year. A total of 281 questionnaires were distributed, and 268 valid questionnaires were returned, with a return rate of 95%. After the questionnaires were returned, this study used descriptive statistics, t-test, one-way ANOVA and Pearson’s product moment correlation analysis to test the collected data, and reached the following research conclusions. 1.64.9% of the students chose “to study in early childhood education and care-related departments in Four-Year Institute of Technology & Two-Year Junior College;” 35.1% of them chose “to study in departments irrelevant to early childhood education and care in Four-Year Institute of Technology & Two-Year Junior College.” 2.81% of the students chose “to study in Four-Year Institute of Technology & Two-Year Junior College;” 19% of them chose “to study in general university or military and police colleges.” 3.The order of importance attached to various dimensions (factors) affecting students’ choice of department was as follows: “future development,” “characteristics of department,” and “suggestions from others.” 4.The order of importance attached to various dimensions (factors) affecting students’ choice of college/university was as follows: “learning consideration,” “reality consideration,” “enrollment consideration,” “college/university consideration,” and “reputation consideration.” 5.In terms of the effect of different background variables on considerations affecting students’ choice of department, the differences in background variable, “school attribute,” had a significant effect on students’ considerations for choosing department for future advanced studies, while other background variables did not have a significant effect. 6.In terms of the effect of different background variables on considerations affecting students’ choice of college/university, the difference in background variables, “gender” and “school attribute,” had a significant effect on students’ considerations for choosing college/university, while other background variables did not have a significant effect. 7.All the considerations affecting students’ choice of department were positively correlated with all the considerations affecting their choice of college/university. Lastly, this study proposed suggestions according to the research analysis results as reference for senior (vocational) high schools, universities of science and technology, and future researchers.
