After countless bombing, once flourishing port and city turned into ash and dust. In 1945, U.S. Military Government had occupied and controlled whole Ryukyu Islands, until 1950, U.S Military Government became “U.S. Civil Administration of Ryukyu Islands”. And in the beginning of the Cold War, U.S. Army decided to administrate Okinawans for help in building military base on the island for the purpose of securing safety of U.S territory in the Pacific, but then the troops at Okinawa realized that they couldn’t just control natives without saving them from their miserable living condition. On the other side, although most of the constructions stood on Okinawa were gone at war, Okinawans never forget to rebuild their home city Naha. However, to rebuild Naha city for the natives this time, not only by Okinawans themselves, but also need the relief and aid of American. Approved by U.S. Commander, Okinawans could finally brought back the prewar idea of the dream plan of Naha city, the” Dai-Okinawa-Shi city planning.” Everything started in 1950s; it’s an achievement of American, Okinawan and some Japanese, rebirth of Naha city.
