This study was designed by the cross-sectional study to collect and analyze the data through questionnaires. The questionnaire designed by the author, "The effectiveness of emergency medical technician training and first aid treatment capabilities", as a research tool, and 165 emergency medical technicians of Second District Emergency and Rescue Corps of the Kaohsiung City Government Fire Department conducted the questionnaire survey, and collected 143 valid samples. The questionnaire data was analyzed by SPSS statistical software, and analyzed by descriptive statistical methods and inferential statistical methods. According to data analysis obtained the following results: 1.The first three higher capability of the emergency medical technicians are: "Understanding the correct execution of cardiopulmonary resuscitation", "Understanding the correct execution of trauma treatment", "Understanding the correct execution of the primary and secondary survey the patients vital signs and medical history”. 2.The first three lower capability of the emergency medical technicians are "ICS, system of the accident scene command system", "Understanding the role and tasks of medical direction implementation", and "Understanding the relevant laws and regulations on emergency medical systems". 3.The officers aged 31-40, the seniority of 11-20 years, with higher education level, trained by the Taiwan Police College or Special Examination Classes have better professional background and capability in emergency medical treatment. 4.The officers with higher emergency medical technician level, heavier duties, and who actively participate in emergency medical trainings have better capability in emergency medical treatment. 5.Personal and professional background of an emergency medical technician is positively correlated with the capability of emergency medical treatments. Based on the above results, specific recommendations are made to the Fire Departments and Health Care authorities.
