Interestingly, by data analysis of nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) and single crystal diffraction, we found that H[iPr-PNP] obtained fac-[iPr-PNP]PtMe3 after the reaction, and the isomer mer-[iPr-PNP]PtMe3 gradually appeared at room temperature, but H[Ph-PNP] gave mer-[Ph-PNP]PtMe3 after the reaction. Then, we observed the changes of these six-coordinated tetravalent platinum complexes through different conditions and tried to find intermediates, and then proposed the plausible mechanism about how to undergo reductive elimination to form carbon-carbon bond and [R-PNP]PtMe (R = iPr, Ph).
