碩士 === 國立臺北大學 === 國際財務金融碩士在職專班 === 107 === Financial technologies (FinTech) have changed global economy as well as the business landscape in banking sector, while Regulatory technologies (RegTech) can help banks better manage regulatory requirement in the digital age. In early 2018, the Financial Supervisory Commission of Taiwan (FSC) released the “Financial Technology Development and Innovative Experimentation Act”, learning the lessons from UK and Singapore and aiming to be a FinTech hub. The author identified the potential threats and advantage of Taiwan banks based on micro and macro environment analysis when they are developing FinTech and RegTech. The aim of this paper is to analyze the recent trends in banking sector of Taiwan through interviewing the banks, FinTech startups and regulators. In addition, the author gains further understanding of the participants’ view to the regulatory sandbox. Base on the results this paper provides several recommendations for regulators and banks to strengthen the position in financial innovations and to control the risks associated with introduction of financial innovations.
