Photography skills have also been applied in all walks of life, such as media, printing industry, advertising design and art creation. However, there is no photography department established to foster professional photographers in Taiwan. For those who want to devote themselves to Fine-art photography or photography industry in Taiwan can only rely on scattered resources. On the contrary, in the neighboring countries like China, Korea and Japan, they all have photography department or photography professional schools. Therefore, this study aimed to investigate the feasibility of establishing photography department in Taiwan, and it could serve as a reference for future domestic photography education. This study adopted the methods of questionnaire survey and in-depth interviews. The subject of questionnaire survey targeted at vocational school students as well as photography industry in Taiwan. Meanwhile, via interviewing experts specializing in photography on the subject of establishing photography department and reviewing the status of Taiwan’s labor market in recruiting photographers, this study explored if photography department should start its prosperity in Taiwan. In conclusion, the results of the study indicated that three experts specializing in photography took a sanguine view of establishing photography department; vocational school students had strong intentions to major in photography, yet the job vacancy rates of photographers of Taiwan’s labor market appeared to be quite low. Hence, establishing photography department is regarded as infeasible in Taiwan. HSIEH, YUNG-CHENG 謝顒丞 2019 學位論文 ; thesis 170 zh-TW
