Further exploration included the relation with different demographic characteristics, perceived health status, job stress and the predictors of the health promotion lifestyles. The instruments adopted were health promotion lifestyle profile, demographic data, job stress scale and perceived health status scale. Public health nurses from 13 and 14 public health centers in Hualien and Taitung Counties respectively, a total of 188 public health nurses were included in this cross-sectional design study, using self-reported questionnaires. Statistical analyses were carried through SPSS software. Descriptive statistics were to explore the samples’ demographic variables, while inferential statistics were to explore the relationships between variables. The major findings of the study were as follows: 1. Interpersonal support contributed the most in health-promoting lifestyles, while exercise behavior was the least. 2. Demographic characteristics significantly differed with health promotion lifestyles. 3. Public health nurses’ perceived health status positively correlated with health-promoting lifestyles. 4. “Job control”, “manager and colleague support” correlated with health-promoting lifestyles positively. 5. Statistically, “Perceived health status” and “Job control” were health-promoting lifestyles' major predictors. Based on this research results, public health nurses are suggested as follows:.(1) Organizes workplace sports activities in preference to public health nurses to enhance the employees’ participation willingness.(2) Sets up a standard operating procedure, and provides new recruits a comprehensive on-job training, together with the guidance of colleagues and supervisors for the sake of reducing working stresses.
