Therefore, there are social welfare organizations advocate of gender issues through arts. In 2005, “The Garden of Hope Foundation (GOH)” introduced the American episodic play “The Vagina Monologues” and performed and proposed to care about female body and sexual violence in every year. In order to get closer to the gender story of Taiwanese society, it conducted a field research about gender issues in the local area, and in same year created a series of local scripts, “Shi-Di” which is attempted to explore gender stories in Taiwan. Based on the background of social work, this study researcher explained the importance of arts being seen and used with different forms in the social work field; moreover, explored arts as a way of social advocacy. The researcher had an internship with GOH at the university, and knew that the foundation had long promoted “The Vagina Monologues”. In addition, watched “Shi-Di III” in 2017 and deeply realized that compared with the traditional gender advocacy in social welfare organization, the way of the art exhibitions to promote the topic will more stimulate the public's attention. As a consequence, the researcher sparked interest to discuss the execution of advocacy. In this study named “Advocating Gender Issues through the Arts:A Case Study of Shi-Di” explored how the social welfare organization using performance as a method, and what effect and influence is it of the advocacy. Additionally, GOH also wants to convey what gender issues and guide the public to perceive and discuss. This research method includes collecting the interview data of curation team, performance team, organizing audio-visual materials and data by document analysis and observational method. Through the research results, it is found that the arts as a gender advocacy of the social welfare organization is more likely to generate more in-depth gender awareness by touching the body resonance and memory. In the research period, it was just the final performance of Shi-Di in 2018. The researcher hopes understanding the audience's feelings and recognition of the script and the advocacy, and giving back to GOH. Hence eight audiences were invited to conduct “micro” interviews as a supplement to this study. In addition, the advocacy needs to consider different activities and the target public, and be designed the appropriate form and exposure. Therefore, the method of the advocacy is not to distinguish between good and bad, but to achieve the concept and influence that the organization wants to convey, so that the public be aware of the importance of gender issues.
