| Summary: | A series of dedications made by women in Athens between 550 and 480 BCE shows a new form of expression for the female voice. Addressed to the gods, as well as to the entire city, these dedications do not mention any male parent and testify to a freedom of expression and status usually put aside by traditional historiography. Through the study of a corpus of fourteen dedications, this study will try to underline how the female voice could express itself, and therefore discover the role women played within the intern dialogue of the city. |
