The best extraction medium (considering only phenols and flavonoids) was methanol and 62.7 mg galic acid equivalents per gram of dry weight were found (for leaves extract). Comparing amounts of phenolic compounds found in the extracts and its antioxidant potential with other herbal teas and extracts, it may be concluded that T. vulgare is a plant species destitute with phenolic compounds. Obtained results suggest that phenolic compounds, present in the plant tissues, are carriers of antioxidant properties. |
