Summary:Abstract This research is motivated by the problems faced by students in learning Arabic vocabulary with a distance learning system, namely the lack of students' ability to master vocabulary and the lack of application of appropriate learning strategies in distance learning. This study aims to reveal students' vocabulary mastery skills after using the elaboration strategy. Researchers used experimental research methods with a quantitative approach. Researchers used pre-test and post-test to collect data. The evidence found in this study indicates that the alternative hypothesis (Ha) is accepted, and the null hypothesis (Ho) is rejected. This means that the use of elaboration strategies in the teaching and learning process of vocabulary has a strong influence. The process of teaching and learning vocabulary using elaboration strategies among students has a strong impact on their vocabulary mastery.   Keywords: Elaboration strategy, vocabulary mastery
