Description
Summary:This paper addresses the phenomenon of banditry in the high Andean region of the department of Huánuco, a region traditionally identified with rural crime, within the framework of so-called bandit narratives. In order to unravel its main features from the decoding and interpretation of its literary representations, a discourse analysis of three works is carried out: Cuentos andinos, Yarupajá. Los días de Melchor Albornoz y Luis Pardo Novoa and La resaca de los años gloriosos. The goal is to contribute to the construction of a typology and characterization of Peruvian banditry within a regional and historical perspective in order to think about how it sustains and reproduces shared or disputed meanings about the role of crime in the construction of the idea of nation.
