| الملخص: | Craftsmen exhibit innovative spirits and abilities to discover and design new processes and products. Nonetheless, literature on responsible innovation (RI) has largely overlooked the context of craft. In fact, Chinese traditional culture contains numerous artisan ethics that are closely tied to responsible innovation. Through a case study of Boshan ceramic craft workers in Shandong Province, the technical work of contemporary ceramic craftsmen can be examined using the 4Ps framework – people, product, process, and purpose – to highlight their implicit application of humanized Responsible Innovation principles. Specifically, (i) people: the moral rules and innovative manner of the craftsmen; (ii) product: the ethical values embedded in their products; (iii) process: the ecological and harmonious character of artisanal production processes; and (iv) purpose: the ethical and social purposes of the outcomes. This paper explores the complexity of craftsmen's responsibility and influencing factors, promoting humanistic care for stakeholders in technological innovation. |
